Lil’Sis and I took a little ride out to Galveston Bay. Weather was gorgeous. By our feet was not beach sand but a whole bunch of oyster shells, as if they use the shells as lang fill. So we picked up some flat shells and made them skip on the waves.

I was stuck on HOV this afternoon. (Again) Appearently, a duelly truck traveling north bound lost one of it’s rear tire. The tire traveled/bounced over the concrete wall and hit a black suv traveling south in the HOV. The tire hit the driver side front windshield. It looked really bad. I hope the driver was ok.

A bunch of us, motorcyclist, went to the front of this jam. After they took care of the injured, the police let us go by the accident scene before the tow trucks took care of the wrecked suv. Thank you officers.

事故ったのは私ではございませんでした。私の真ん前を走っていたアメ車、どでかい　エス、ユウゥゥ、ヴィィィ、と呼ばれるF社の車。

いつも如く朝のラッシュ時に私は愛車のオートバイでハイウエーにのっかった。のっかるとすぐに10キロほど工事中になる。片側３車線。皆100km-140kmでかっ飛ばしてる。３車線あるが工事用のコンクリートバリケードで路肩などという豪華な物は3センチくらいしかない。事故多発区域！！！！！

私とこのF車は一番左の車線を走行（アメリカですので追い越し車線になります。）突然、F車はハンドルを左に切りコンクリートのバリケードにあたりそうになる。ここで、おっと～っと見てたら、今度はハンドルを右に切りすぎて２車線超えて右のバリケードに突撃。（この時点でF車は時速100km, 私は多分120kmで走行中。）バリケードにあたった弾みであの重たいアメ車が宙に浮いた………映画のスローモーションみたいな感じで……　（ラッキーな事にラッシュ時にもかかわらず、センターレーンにも右車線にも車は走っておりませんでした。私の右には車がおったが。）

この時点で私は飛び散ったプラスチックの破片のシャワーを浴びておりました。脳裏を横切ったのは「この車はバリケードを超えて行くのか、それとも横転して、又は逆さまになって自分の前で停まるのか？」

私はブレーキをかけながらバックミラーを見る。「後ろのヤツ、ブレーキかけてるか？それとも、俺が急ブレーキをかけると俺に突っ込んで来るか？突っ込んで来るなら、この事故車をかわして、その前にでなければ！！！！！」（文章に書くと長いがこれを考えるのに実際には0.5秒くらいしかかかってないと思う。）

後ろのヤツまでだいぶ車間があり、あっちもだいぶスピードを落としてたので、今度は自分の前に専念。宙に浮いてた車は横転せずに無事に着地。かっこいいスピン踊りを数回踊って俺の真ん前で停止！

私はバイクを停め、ヘルメット／グラブをとって走って運転席のドアへ…　黒人のおばちゃんが降りて来た。生きてた。出血なし、ほっとした。

“Are you OK?”
“…….”

出血なし、ほっとした。

“Sit down and don’t move. I’ll call 911!”　[911番 = 日本で言う１１０番と119番を一つにしたもので緊急時に使います。]
“……”

怖かったのだろう。おばちゃんは震えていた。　通りがかりの何人かの人が停まっておばちゃんの世話をし始めた。911とダイヤルする私の手も震えていた。

サイレンが聞こえて来る。救急隊オーケストラの序曲が始まった。カノンかフーガのように、車両が訪れるたびに、次々と旋律が浮き上がって来る。クライマックスを迎えた時点では、消防車２台、救急車１台、パトカー４台、レッカー車一台の楽器編成であった。

黒人のおばちゃんは救急車に乗せられ無事去って行った。

Merry Christmad to all. We are spending time with KIKI’s parents right now. But We are leaving in the morning to New Mexico for snow skiing trip.

This will be the first skiing experience for the kids. They are very excited. We will upload stories and pictures throughout the trip.

This weekend, we are dog sitting for a couple friend of ours. The dog is a corgi. I think to be exact, it is a Welsh Corgi.

Tucker, the dog, is full of energy, since it is only 3.5 years old. Comparerd to out 12 year old collie, it is like a night and day in their energy level.

It’s a cute little dog. But boy it sheds like crazy. I don’t know if it sheds like this all year around or may be it is seasonal. He makes a trail of hi hair wherever he goes.

There was a fire last night and KIKI was gone for a good 4 hous. She was fighting the fire inside the house. Thank God there was no accident.

We stopped by the house today and it looks like this now.

ということでハリケーンの目は自宅を直撃という予報です。自分はまだハリケーン/台風の目というものを体験したことがござりませんので、半分ワクワク半分心配。

ウィキペディアでハリケーンの風速（アメ国式）と台風の風速（倭国式）を比べてみたらこんな感じでした。

今回のハリケーンはカテゴリー２または３ということで風速見てたらたいしたこと無いよね。カテゴリー3だったら我輩のオートバイで体験できますので…

さて、洪水のほうは？？？？ガラベストン島はもうすでに大分洪水が始まってます。そして….我が家は？？？？答えのほうは今晩になりますね。

「あっち行け」のおまじないが効かない。やはり小生の日ごろの行いが悪いからだろうか？(汗)

新しいハリケーンの通過予定図（でいいのかな？）が手に入った。こんな感じ…

自宅はガルベストン湾に近いので強風、洪水の被害が怖いですね。

近所の友達はすでに家族で非難。自宅もベニヤで窓をすべて覆ったので、今回はゆっくりIKE君と遊んでみるつもりである。
