Yesterday, I talked about Locust Tsukudani. Tsukudani is a Japanese cooking method of cooking meat, fish, or locust by boiling them down with soy sauce and sugar. This is a definite Yellow Neck dish. Don’t expect your urban friends to be eating this. Only those who qualify for YN eat this [...]

Pepperjack whatever Whatachicken
April 15th, 2005 · No Comments
Wednesday, I worked late. I got out of my office at 9 p.m. I was hungry. I debated whether to eat hotdogs at home or stop at some fast food restaurant. Then I just remembered that yummy looking commercial of the new Whatachicken. So I stopped at a Whataburger and [...]

It was the second day of our spring recess, the last day for our manager/coordinator. (She is moving on to a better position.) So we decided to take her out. It was a beautiful day, so she wanted to go to a restaurant where you can eat outside. We went to [...]

Red River BBQ
March 27th, 2005 · No Comments
My in-laws came in this weekend. So Kiki, LilSis, and Nawnaw brought Red River BBQ home from their Saturday afternoon outing. (translation – shopping) They knew my favorite is the ribs, so they brought home a pound and a half of ribs, beans, cole-slaws, potato salad, and some pies.
Let’s talk about the [...]

Korea Garden
March 16th, 2005 · No Comments
I had a pleasure of visiting Korea Garden Restaurant, 9501 Long Point. It was a bit far from our office, but since it was during spring break we had extra time to spend during our lunch.
Atmosphere was very nice. Nice heavy wooden door will welcome you. That sort of gives you that [...]

La Tapatia – Mexican Cafe y Cantina
March 3rd, 2005 · No Comments
TexMex is not my favorite food. The only dish I really like is menudo. But my wife loves TexMex, and whenever we go out, that’s what she wants to eat. Now I found a restaurant I would also enjoy, La Tapatia.
When my friend from work suggested to eat some Mexican [...]

Our good friend MM brought us some Jambalaya today. BIG thank you! Jambalaya has been one of my favorite food for last 15 years. I think Jambalaya is Cajun version of fried rice. (and of course Chinese fried rice is one of my all time favorite dish.)
She and her husband DM, [...]

Tequila Willie’s Mexican Restaurant
February 13th, 2005 · No Comments
We’ve been to Tequilla Willy’s (1055 Bay Area Blvd) twice. They offered decent food (TexMex) and good service. It was for Sunday lunch both times. First time was really good. We ate from lunch menu (around $5.00 – $6.00 per plate) and kids ate free.
Well, and we went back a few [...]

Last night, it was the biggest disappointment of this trip. The restaurant is called Jacmel Inn. Jacmel Inn is located in this old renovated house.
Well, it has a nice atmosphere. I would take my date there if the food is good. This could be a really romantic dinner. But I [...]

Brady’s Restaurant in Hammond, Louisiana
February 4th, 2005 · No Comments
So after we froze our tails off at Mardi Gras, we went to a restaurant called Brady’s. It was very much a college student hangout spot. It was crossover bar and a restaurant.
I ordered Shrimp NuvoLari ($9.50). It is basically shrimp pasta with red sauce plate. It was a big disappointment. [...]
