iBook G4

May 23rd, 2005 · No Comments

I have been testing our new iBook G4 1.2 GHz with 768MB RAM and 30G HD. So far it has not giving me a major headache. This iBook will be traveling Europe with our student videographer.

What we should have ordered with this iBook is to upgrade CD to DVD combo drive. Many software are now shipped in DVD format. We have to use our external DVD drive to install apps.

We should also have ordered with a wifi card. It was rather inconvenient last week. There were plenty of wifi spots on Michigan State campus.

Something I did not notice until this morning is that AGP memory is only 32MB. And it will not turn off mirroring with an external monitor. I don’t like this at all. Also, we have three new 20” Cinema Display, and I was trying to hook iBook to one of it. Well, the adaptor only goes to VGA monitor. So I could not use our Cinema Display, which only comes with DVI input.

I will patiently wait for my 12” PowerBook, which will be ordered soon for my office use. We are also getting one dual 2.7 Ghz G5 and one dual 2 Ghz G5. When I get those and run some test, I will report.
